Kentucky is where the South, the Midwest and Appalachia meet and none of them wins. Horses and bourbon in the bluegrass, coal in the east, and a river border that made it a border state in every sense during the Civil War, staying in the Union while sending sons to both armies. It ages more barrels of bourbon than it has people. Go for Mammoth Cave, the longest cave system known, and drive the bluegrass back roads in April when the fences are white and the foals are out.
There are more barrels of bourbon ageing here than there are people.
