Hawaii is the most remote populated place on earth, two thousand miles from anywhere, and it was a sovereign kingdom with treaties and embassies until it was overthrown in 1893. That history is present in a way visitors often miss. It is the only state that grows coffee commercially, the only one with a royal palace, and the only one where the land is still being made. Go for the volcano at Kilauea, but spend the time on the food, which is Japanese and Filipino and Portuguese and Hawaiian at once.
The only state that grows coffee commercially.
