Colorado is the state where the plains stop dead against the mountains, and everything about it follows from that line. Mining built it, skiing rebuilt it, and legal cannabis and a tech boom in Denver rebuilt it again. It is the only state with no natural feature at any of its borders, which is why it looks like a rectangle drawn by someone in a hurry. Go for Rocky Mountain National Park, but the better day is Mesa Verde in the southwest, where people farmed cliff faces for seven hundred years and then left.
The only place ever to win an Olympics and then vote to turn it down.
